L'Homme Aux Gants opens with the sweet, musty smell of nutmeg, a spice that seems to represent all the earthy brown tones in existence joined with irresistible sweetness. Its rich, leathery heart takes inspiration from the painting's young man and how he is dressed - opulently, in a coat with fur trim, a gold ring on the right index finger, and a sapphire necklace with pearl. Thus the scent gathers itself into a rich medley of precious woods, captivating balsamic resins and smoky chords, which melt into the enveloping aroma of Madagascar vanilla and the honeyed hay creaminess of tonka bean.
